HIGH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS
2017-2018 Week Without Walls
Information sessions and registration for WWW 2017-2018 will start on Mar 20 and continues through April 13. Please contact Mr. Duggan with any questions.
March 8 and 9 – No School
Please note that there is no school on March 8-9th as it is a CAC Holiday.
The High School Parent-Teacher Conference Days are an excellent opportunity to visit campus and discuss your student’s academic progress with teachers. “Arena Style” conferences will take place on Tuesday, March 14 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the ES Hall. No appointments are needed for that day and conferences are limited to quick “check ins” that do not require confidentiality. Conferences on Wednesday, March 15 are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the teachers’ classrooms and appointments will be made in fifteen-minute intervals. For both types of conferences, students are encouraged to attend with parents. Mid-semester progress reports will be posted on March 5.
There will be no school for High School students on Wednesday, March 15.
Parent sign-ups for conferences on Wednesday, March 15 have started and run through Monday, March 13, giving you the opportunity to select your own time slots to meet with teachers. Signups are done on SKYWARD.
For instructions, please click here.
Below is the link to all rooms for conferences on Wednesday. Please note that they will be in the same classrooms where regular classes meet.
If you see bookings already made for you, please note that individual teachers have requested to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress. If a teacher’s schedule is fully booked for Wednesday’s conferences, you can visit the teacher at the Arena drop-in conferences or email the teacher directly to schedule a conference on a different day. Also, if you won’t be available on the parent-teacher conference days, but want to visit specific teachers, please contact each teacher directly.
Please contact Ms. Mona Abdel Hady at email@example.com if you have problems with your username and password. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Eman Hamza in the High School Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 2755-5403.

Counseling Department Announcements
Course Registration Cards
Students, please remember to turn in your course registration cards to the counseling office no later than March 7th.
Upcoming College Visits:
SUNY Albany, Sunday 5 March 11am-12pm
IED (IED Istituto Europeo di Design) Tuesday 7 March 11am-12pm
Parents of Juniors:
• This week during flex periods, juniors explored careers and related university majors. Please take the time to talk with your student about their areas of interest.
• The deadline to schedule the Junior College Meeting with students, parents, and counselor was Wednesday, March 1st. Meetings must be held before Spring Break on April 13th. These individualized meetings will help students and parents develop a plan for strategically researching universities over the next five months. Please schedule these meetings with your counselor or Ms. Monica (last names beginning with A – E, email@example.com) or Ms. Vivian (last names beginning with F – Z, firstname.lastname@example.org) if you haven't done so as soon as possible.
• Due to widespread cheating incidents, College Board and the SAT have announced major changes for international test centers. The SAT Reasoning exams will now be administered four times (instead of six) and SAT Subject tests five times (instead of six) per year. As far as we know at this time, the SAT Reasoning will not be offered at CAC in June. It is recommended that students and families consider the ACT as an alternative to the SAT. The registration deadline for the April 8th ACT is Friday, March 3rd. Students considering applying to Early Action or Early Decision programs in the United States next fall are strongly encouraged to register for the April ACT exam.

ISST Girls’ Basketball Update:
The 2016-2017 CAC Girls' Basketball team is made up of ten players, some relatively new to the sport and some veteran varsity players. On the team this year are Seniors - Melanie Price (captain), Babet Nieman, Hannah Elmaraghi, and Julia Jackson-Jin, Juniors - Alethe de Vaulgrenant and Kayla Jacob, Sophomores - Maylis de Vaulgrenant and Tamara Ahmed, and Freshman - Estelle Campana and Nawaal Bhuiyan. The girls participate in both the local schools' league and the Women's Maadi Basketball Association (WMBA). Going into tournament play, the girls have posted a 5-2 record against Cairo school teams and a 2-3 record in WMBA. The girls are led by Captain Melanie Price, leading scorers Maylis and Alethe de Vaulgrenant, and leading rebounder, Hannah Elmaraghi; and coached by Erik Dunham, Monte Davis, and Kyle Purpura. The girls play in the ISST Division 2 tournament hosted by Frankfurt International School, March 8-11.
ISST Swim Team Update:
This week, the CAC swim team will look to defend our ISST Overall Team Championship in London at ACS-Cobham. So far this season CAC has had our annual time trials as well as two dual meets against Heliopolis Club and Maadi Club. The times the swimmers have posted in these meets show good progress and evidence of the hard work they have put in. CAC will be represented by the following swimmers.
JV Girls - May Aon and Salma Shabana are back for another ISST Championship. They are joined by first time ISST swimmers, Leena Lambert and Yasmeen Ibrahim.
JV Boys - Youngjin Wang is the only returner and looks to move up on the podium. He is joined by first time ISST swimmers, Mahmoud Abdel Baky, Alaa El Zayet, Hibiki Matsuda, Omar Omar and Taymour Riad. CAC is the reigning JV Boys ISST Champion and these 6 are well positioned to defend this title.
Varsity Girls - Engy Ayad, Anna Chadwell and Sarah Fouad return to ISST’s and are joined by Gloria Bosi.
Varsity Boys - Ahmed Morsi, Gamal Said, Yehia Said and Yousef Shabana return to defend the Varsity Boys ISST Championship that CAC won last year. They are joined by Andrew Park and Hassan Riad.
With 42 swimmers in the water on this year’s CAC JV and Varsity swim team, the swimmers have been working hard, have put their laps in and are ready to swim fast. Even if all 42 can’t make the trip they will be supporting those that are representing CAC like they have been all year.

Lost and Found
Part of educating students at CAC is encouraging independence through increasing responsible behaviors. We constantly encourage students to label their items so that they are easily identified and returned back to the owner. It is also important that students know what to do when they lose any of their items.
Here is what we advise students to do when they report a lost item:
1- Look everywhere (lost & found table/class/playground/inside backpacks/home ,etc,...)
2- Ask Others (friends/teachers/parents/siblings,etc,..)
3-Ask parents to report to the lost and found link. Upper grade students can do this too.
4- Use the same link to report when item is found.
In order to support our students and community members with the above process, we created the below Lost and Found link to help us track of lost and found items.
