For our sixth grade students, here is a little background to familiarize you with this exciting program. PRIME trips are an important part of the Middle School program. This off-campus activities-based program offers students the opportunity to extend the curriculum beyond the classroom walls in exciting ways in a new environment. They are also able to develop new friendships, try new experiences, and build self-confidence. The CAC PRIME Trips are an integral and mandatory part of the Middle School curriculum.
Our 6 grade Prime Trip takes place in Egypt. It takes place in the exciting city of Luxor is an amazing trip that complements 6th grade ancient civilisations unit in Social Studies. The seventh grade students visit Marsa Alam, a trip that has been extremely successful in the past. It complements the ecology unit in 7th grade science. The eighth grade students visit Jordan for a mix of cultural and outdoor activities.
Each PRIME Trip provides an opportunity to fulfill a variety of the goals listed below, although each program does not necessarily cover all the objectives.
6TH GRADE - LUXOR Open or Close
We are delighted that the Grade 6 students will once more be able to travel within Egypt for their PRIME trip. Students will travel to Luxor for five days/four nights of exploration of Luxor and the surrounding area, while also incorporating a number of other activities into their day. The 6th grade team is pleased to have this opportunity to extend our learning environment beyond the traditional classroom walls, and we look forward to the special connections that we can make with each other as a result of this trip. Students will have the opportunity to study ancient Egyptian civilization right where it happened, where so many amazing ruins still stand, and where they will be bathed in the history of their host country for four days. Students will stay at the Maritim Jolie Ville Hotel, on its own island, and make a trip each day. Students will visit many of the world famous archeological sites in and around Luxor. There will also be plenty of time for bonding together as a new middle school group, with many enjoyable and worthwhile activities to fill their time while they are not out exploring. We encourage enrollment in this worthwhile and often most memorable component of the Middle School Curriculum.
7TH GRADE - Marsa Alam Adventure Open or Close
The Grade 7 students will travel to Marsa Alam in the south of Egypt for five days/four nights of exploration this upcoming fall 2017. The trip is organized in conjunction with Dayma, a well-known and respected organization that specializes in arranging educational trips for international schools in Egypt.
The 7th grade team is pleased to have this opportunity to extend our learning environment beyond the traditional classroom walls, and we look forward to the special connections that we can make with each other as a result of this trip. Students will have the opportunity to examine coral reefs, camp, study dolphins, learn about biomimicry and explore astronomy. There will also be a service-learning component.
Students will stay in an ecolodge, called Marsa Nakari. This trip aligns with the 7th grade ecology and geography curriculum. There will be six CAC teachers chaperoning and participating in the activities with the students as well as a CAC nurse.
8TH GRADE - JORDAN Open or Close
In October 2018, the Grade 8 students will travel to Jordan for five days/four nights of exploration. The trip is organized in conjunction with ETR, a well-known and respected travel company that specializes in arranging amazing educational trips for international schools. The 8th grade team is pleased to have this opportunity to extend our learning environment beyond the traditional classroom walls, and we look forward to the special connections that we can make with each other as a result of this trip. Students will have the opportunity to visit the ruins of Jerash, float in the Dead Sea, explore desert castles, stay in Wadi Rum and discover the wonders of the ancient rose-red city of Petra. Our trip will involve hiking, cultural excursions, and archeological and historical studies. Students will stay in hotels, and at a beautiful walled compound in Wadi Rum. We encourage enrollment in this worthwhile and often most memorable component of the Middle School Curriculum.
CAIRO BASED TRIP Open or Close
The Cairo based Trip comprises of five days of activities, each day having a different theme: An Exploratory Day on campus, A historical and cultural day visiting the Citadel and the Cairo Museum, A farm day with animals and farm grown foods, a service day giving back to our community, and a fun day visiting Fagnoon, and then swimming at the Saqqara Country club.
The week has been carefully planned to include a variety of activities to enable all students to have fun, engage in outdoor activities, learn about and experience the history and culture of our host country, and at the same time forge new friendships.
