ISST Swimming:

20 swimmers traveled to Dordrecht in the Netherlands to represent CAC. They each came back to Cairo having contributed points to CAC's dominant overall team title. All 20 swimmers scored, all 20 swimmers swam best times. In addition to the overall title, the JV Girls, JV Boys and Varsity Boys were crowned team champions!

CAC won 6 of the 8 relay titles, four of these in CAC school record times and one of them (JV Boys 200 Free Relay) in a new ISST record time. CAC finished with 21 top 3 finishes, highlighted by 2 victories for Young Jin and 1 for Ahmed in addition to the 6 relay titles. Individually, Leena, Ellie, and Ahmed set new CAC school records. Amazing job CAC swimmers! Way to write your own history!

ISST Girls' Basketball:

The CAC Girls' Varsity team finished 3rd in the ISST Division 2 Basketball Championships held recently in The Hague. The girls played five games, winning three and closely losing two to the teams who were the eventual champions and runners-up. For CAC, the tournament highlighted our team's tough, physical play; a key characteristic that we have exhibited all season. The defining moment of the tournament, however, came with 40 seconds remaining in the final game against Hillingdon when Sophomore, Eman Ahmed, hit a clutch three-pointer to seal a CAC victory. During the awards ceremony following the tourney, both Alethe de Vaulgrenant and Maylis de Vaulgrenant were selected to the ISST D2 All-Tournament Team.

ISST Boys' Basketball:

The CAC Boys' Basketball team had what has to be called a serious challenge at ISSTs, hosted by Frankfurt International School. We opened up the schedule against the American School of Israel, and they were the toughest pressure defensive team in the tournament...and it showed. We committed 41 turnovers, and to only lose that game by 14 showed that our team fought until the very end. The final score of Game 1 was 59-45. The other thing of note was that since CAC and ASI are the "unknown" teams in the ISST tournament, every coach made a point of watching our game, so every game going forward included that same kind of defensive pressure against us. Game 2 was a hard-fought matchup with ACS Hillingdon, where CAC had a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter, but the pressure got us in the end: 52-47. On Day 2, we opened up against AIS Vienna, who not only utilized the pressure defense, but they were a tall, long team as well, and the results were once again a tough one: 52-26, followed up with what might have been CAC's best performance in Game 4. CAC played Bonn International School (BIS) in game 4, who earlier in the tournament took the host school FIS to a double-overtime result, losing a close one. CAC fought hard in this one and figured out how to beat the pressure, but this game was very close, and when we couldn't make the last shot, Bonn won 48-46. So on the last day, CAC was in the 7th place game against British School of Brussels (BSB), and in many ways, we were able to create a silver lining for ourselves, with a 46-40 win. But all in all, the ISST tournament in Frankfurt was a great learning experience for the boys above all else.

CAC's Girls Get Strong (GGS) Conference is March 17! The mission of GGS is simple--to empower girls to be physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially healthy, strong, and active. Through this organization Girls Get Strong has increased collaboration between community members, students, and coaches to empower girls to be healthy and active. It invites schools in Egypt and outside of Egypt to participate in workshops and activities with the hope that they will take the knowledge and experience back to their schools to empower girls and initiate a Girls Get Strong program themselves. We invite female experts in various fields to conduct the workshops in their areas of expertise. Many of those experts are CAC alumna that have since leaving CAC excelled in so many industries and fields on both the national and international levels. There are various ways to participate.
